Subject: Distribution of Paper Report Cards in Kindergarten to Grade 8

This memo is to inform school boards that, beginning with the June 2026 reporting period, the Ministry of Education is requiring school boards to distribute paper-based end-of-term report cards for all students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 for the January/February and June reporting periods.

Providing paper report cards will help ensure that all parents/guardians have direct access to information about their child’s progress and achievement. Where electronic distribution of report cards is currently in place, boards should continue those practices alongside the paper copies. School boards may also provide a paper copy at the progress period in October/November in addition to electronic versions.

Secondary schools may continue with current approaches to distributing report cards, ensuring a paper copy is provided upon request by the parent/guardian.

School boards can continue to allow for electronic signatures to be used by school principals (or their delegate) on the report cards, in accordance with their own policies.

School boards are expected to work with their respective vendor to ensure that paper report cards are available for Kindergarten to Grade 8 for the June 2026 reporting period. Please share this information with your school and board communities.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Yael Ginsler
