This series of professional learning opportunities is offered to principals and vice-principals who have experience with the concept of Inclusive Design and are interested in going deeper with their application to support school improvement. Space is limited for this initial cohort of the program. 

Learning Objectives

Through this series, participants will work towards

  • going deeper with the theoretical approach of Inclusive Design

  • developing one’s critical consciousness and apply an Inclusive Design analysis and approach to the School Improvement process 

  • using Inclusive Design as a process for culturally responsive leadership and accountability to support school improvement practices required to interrupt and dismantle systems of oppression, thereby changing outcomes for the historically (and current) most marginalized and underserved students

  • developing a reflective community of practice to do ongoing Inclusive Design work in their schools and

  • receiving ongoing peer support for colleagues as they implement inclusive design in schools.

Participants will engage in a two and half day training session with Dr. Camille Logan and jeewan chanicka. During these sessions, participants will

  • engage in critical discussions

  • develop a deeper and more informed Inclusive Design approach

  • conceptualize, reflect and engage one’s professional practice through using all Six Threads of Inclusive Design and

  • engage in measurement and critical self-reflective practice to inform next steps.

Full-day, July 20-21: (8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. EDT)

Half-day, July 22: (8:00 a.m.  – 12:00 p.m. EDT)

Eligibility

  • Completion of Level 1 OPC Inclusive Design course and/or 

  • System and/or regional experience in leading work specific to human rights, equity, inclusion including anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice and/or

  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency using the theory of Inclusive Design and the Six Threads.
