We are seeking two recently retired OPC Members who are highly qualified elementary and secondary principals to review Tip Sheet content for the Protective Services Team (PST).
The selected candidates will be contracted to collaborate with the OPC staff to assist with the PST Tip Sheet review process. The work will be spread over two school years, with 10 days allocated each year (10 days in July-August 2025 and another 10 days in the fall 2025). The selected candidates will work with the PST team, including consultants and legal advisors, to review and update existing Tip Sheets to ensure they remain current and relevant for principals and vice principals across the province.
Responsibilities include

reviewing/developing content that aligns with the Ontario College of Teachers’ Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession and the Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession

collaborating with PST members and the OPC staff in accordance with OPC’s Professional Learning Goals and Principles
-
reviewing materials through the lens of human rights inclusion and anti-oppression, respecting the unique identities of all learners, collaborators and partners
-
complying with OPC style guidelines and accessibility standards.
Successful applicants will have:

a “good standing” status with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
-
an in-depth understanding of public education in Ontario
-
exemplary experience as a practising principal with a minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant and varied school experiences
-
an advocate for positive change based on foundational principles that support human rights and anti-oppression
-
a dynamic approach to learning based on reflective practice, understanding of current trends and research in education and a province-wide perspective
-
knowledge of a variety of digital tools
-
an in-depth knowledge of current legislation
-
in-depth knowledge of educational content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with educational standards and objectives
-
in-depth knowledge of accessibility, inclusivity, and adherence to industry best practices
-
experience sharing constructive feedback and suggesting improvements to enhance clarity and effectiveness
-
exceptional attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies, errors, and opportunities for improvement
-
excellent written and verbal communication skills

Selection Process
Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Selected candidates will be invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting (with video) and will need to be available on either June 24 or 25. This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation.
