OPC is seeking a highly qualified, recently retired principal or vice-principal and OPC Member as the program lead for the Emerging Leader Development Program (ELDP).

Selection criteria for the successful applicant includes

  • being a Member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) in good standing
  • having an in-depth understanding of public education in Ontario
  • having exemplary experience as a practising principal or vice-principal with recent, relevant and varied school experiences
  • being an advocate for positive change based on foundational principles that support human rights and anti-oppression
  • demonstrated commitment to ongoing development with a “lead-learner” stance
  • having a dynamic approach to learning based on reflective practice, understanding of current trends and research in education and a province-wide perspective
  • understanding of adult learning principles and inclusive and responsive facilitation
  • having effective communication skills
  • having knowledge of a variety of digital tools to facilitate learning 
  • having in-depth knowledge and involvement in specific leadership initiatives and
  • familiarity with resources related to the program themes.

The following will be considered an asset

  • Experience in both elementary and secondary panels.

Selection Process 

Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Selected candidates will be invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting (with video) and will need to be available on February 12, 2026.  This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation.
