The Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) is seeking Members who are highly qualified practising elementary and secondary principals to facilitate the Principal's Qualification Program (PQP). This offering is an accredited program with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) that will encompass 125 hours of combined synchronous and asynchronous online/hybrid learning.

Recruitment is for the following school board partners
  • District School Board of Niagara
  • Rainbow District School Board
  • Simcoe County District School Board
  • Thames Valley District School Board
Responsibilities include
  • delivering the content for the PQP according to an established schedule using a Learning Management System (LMS) to support learning
  • collaborating with the program lead and project coordinator in planning and adjusting the course schedule to meet the needs of the cohort
  • communicating program requirements and expectations to candidates in accordance with the course guidelines
  • monitoring candidate participation and engagement in the program and provide candidates with meaningful and relevant feedback to enhance learning
  • understanding and uphold OPC’s Professional Learning Guiding Principles that drive all planning, development and delivery
  • completing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training to support efforts to continuously improve the delivery of programs through an anti-oppressive and anti-colonial lens
  • upholding and modeling the OCT’s Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession and the Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession
  • supporting development and review of content as requested and
  • meeting with OPC staff and other facilitators as needed.
Selection Criteria

A successful applicant will

  • be on staff with one of the listed school boards in this posting
  • be a member of the OCT in good standing
  • have exemplary experience as a practising principal with recent, relevant and varied school experiences
  • have expertise in areas of school leadership and facilitation
  • demonstrate a province-wide perspective
  • be comfortable using a LMS to facilitate learning
  • have a high level of comfort using a variety of digital tools to enhance learning
  • be proficient in using various Microsoft Office and G-suite programs
  • have strong communication abilities in facilitating, speaking and writing
  • have a dynamic and resourceful approach to work based on continuous self-learning and knowledge of current trends and research in education
  • understand and demonstrate adult learning principles
  • have a “lead learner” stance as an educator
  • have in-depth knowledge of foundational principles that support equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-oppression
  • have expertise in areas of school leadership, mentoring/coaching and facilitation
  • demonstrate collaboration skills with partners and other associations

The following will be considered an asset:

  • experience in both elementary and secondary panels
  • system and provincial leadership experience
Selection Process 

Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Selected candidates will be invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting (with video) and will need to be available on May 27 or June 2, 2025. This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation. The successful applicant(s) will be added to a roster of facilitators and will be called upon as needed.
