The Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) is seeking Members who are highly qualified practising elementary and secondary principals or vice-principals to facilitate the online Facilitated Learning course -

Responsibilities include
  • leading affirming conversations connecting learning directly to the role of the principal in creating inclusive environments for students and staff
  • understanding and upholding OPC’s Professional Learning Guiding Principles that drive all planning, development and delivery
  • completing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training to support efforts to continuously improve the delivery of programs through an anti-oppressive and anti-colonial lens
  • upholding the Professional Learning Expectations and Standards which are modelled on the OCT’s Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession and the Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession
  • facilitating the learning for the course according to an established schedule using Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
  • collaborating with the Professional Learning team in planning and adjusting the course schedule to meet the needs of the cohort
  • communicating program requirements and expectations to candidates
  • monitoring participation and engagement in the program and provide meaningful and relevant feedback to enhance learning
  • supporting development and review of content as requested and
  • meeting with OPC staff and other facilitators as needed.
Selection Criteria

A successful applicant will

  • be a member of the OCT in good standing
  • have in-depth knowledge of foundational principles that support equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-oppression
  • have in-depth knowledge and involvement in specific leadership initiatives related to the topic of this course
  • have expertise in areas of school leadership, mentoring/coaching and facilitation
  • have exemplary experience as a practising principal or vice-principal with recent, relevant and varied school experiences
  • have expertise in areas of school leadership and facilitation
  • demonstrate a province-wide perspective
  • demonstrate collaboration skills with partners and other associations
  • be comfortable using an LMS to facilitate learning
  • have a high level of comfort using a variety of digital tools to enhance learning
  • be proficient in using various Microsoft Office and G-suite programs
  • have strong communication abilities in facilitating, speaking and writing
  • have a dynamic and resourceful approach to work based on continuous self-learning and knowledge of current trends and research in education
  • understand and demonstrate adult learning principles and
  • have a “lead learner” stance as an educator.

The following will be considered an asset

  • lived experiences that will enhance the depth of understanding and learning for participants
  • have successfully completed the Understanding Muslim Students course or specialized programs or experiences related to the topic of this course, and / or 
  • experience in both elementary and secondary panels.
Selection Process 

Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Selected candidates will be invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting (with video) and will need to be available on July 9 or 10, 2025. This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation. The successful applicant(s) will be added to a roster of facilitators and will be called upon as needed.
