EDI Update

Our new governance structure includes representation from Indigenous and other under-represented identities as part of the Board of Directors. Congratulations to Kulbir Dhaliwal (Simcoe County DSB) who was selected by our EDI Advisory Committee to serve as part of the Board.

Queen’s Park Update

There were questions in the House last week about releasing independent reports about school boards, youth employment, waiting lists for Autism treatment, university and college STEM funding and the need for more base funding for universities and colleges

Last Thursday, the government tabled the 2025 Provincial Budget. It projects deficits of $14.6 billion in 2025–26 and $7.8 billion in 2026–27. The Budget includes capital investments over the next 10 years to build more schools and child care spaces; a Skills Development Fund to assist skilled workers with training; vocational and skills training, enabling more people to transition into in-demand jobs; and an expansion of teacher education by an additional 2,600 spaces to address the growing demand for qualified teachers across the province.
