Principal’s Day at Queen’s Park

Last week we held our annual Principal’s Day at Queen’s Park. Members of our Board of Directors met with 26 MPPs from all parties to discuss the current topical issues in schools. We talked primarily about violence in schools, Bill 33 and mental health and well-being and provided this Issue Sheet to the MPPs. The backgrounder relies heavily on data we collected from you in the recent Member survey conducted in the fall. It is this kind of current data, reflective of what is happening in schools today, that assists us in advocating on your behalf. Thank you to all Members who responded to the survey and assisted us with our work.

Opportunity for Retired Principals and Vice-Principals

RMJ Assessment is seeking retired P/VPs interested in serving as quality assurance (QA) school monitors for EQAO assessments. EQAO has recently reinstated the practice of sending QA monitors to samples of schools across the province during the administration of EQAO assessments. RMJ Assessment has been engaged to recruit, train and assign QA monitors. The purpose of the visits is to report on the extent to which the assessment is being administered uniformly across the province and to gather information about the effectiveness of EQAO’s assessment policies, procedures and resources for improvement. Contracted monitors receive stipends and travel expenses for conducting school visits. If you are interested in applying to become a monitor, complete this contact form. For further information, please contact Dr. Richard Jones at richard.jones@rmjassessment.com.
