On a Personal Note

I hope everyone was able to rest, rejuvenate and spend time with loved ones over the long weekend. As we reach mid-October, I recognize how much energy and effort P/VPs across the province have already invested this year. With the beauty of the fall season around us, please remember to make time for self-care. Our roles involve caring for and supporting many people, but we must also take care of ourselves to sustain our energy and continue doing this important work. Thank you for all that you do and for the leadership you provide in your communities.

Return-to-Work Transition for Members

Members returning from a medical or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)related leave, with or without restrictions or accommodations, are encouraged to contact the OPC before scheduling a return-to-work meeting with their employer. We can provide representation and support throughout the return-to-work process, including cases involving accommodations.

For support, contact Ralph Nigro, return-to-work consultant, at rnigro@principals.ca or call 416-322-6600 and ask to speak to an intake officer.

Ontario School Food Survey findings A new provincial survey, Understanding the Landscape of School Food Programming in Ontario, provides insight into school food programs across Ontario’s English-language public schools. Nearly 95 per cent of responding schools reported offering some form of school food program, while insufficient funding for nutritious food and reliance on unpaid labour were identified as key challenges. The findings will help inform future planning and improvements to school food programs across the province.
