Facilitator Position

We are seeking highly qualified practising elementary and secondary principals to facilitate primarily our online Emerging Leader Development Program (ELDP) modules and other related professional learning offerings.

Applicants will have a special interest in mentoring aspiring leaders in all the following topics:

  • Developing an Understanding of the School Principal Role
  • Having a Professional/Challenging Conversation
  • Exploring your Equity Stance
  • What is Instructional Leadership?
  • Leading Safe Schools
  • Data Informed Decision Making
  • What are the Legal Duties of a Principal?
  • Growing Your Personal Leadership Resources (PLR’s)
  • Life-balance for Aspiring Leaders

Selection Criteria

The applicant

  • is an OPC Member in good standing
  • is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) in good standing
  • is a practising principal with recent, relevant and varied school experiences
  • has identified expertise in all areas of school leadership and facilitation
  • demonstrates comfort using a Learning Management System (LMS) to facilitate learning 
  • is an exemplary school leader, as acknowledged by peers and supervisors
  • is dynamic, resourceful, well-read and informed
  • demonstrates a province-wide perspective
  • understands and demonstrates adult learning principles when engaging adult learners
  • is an excellent communicator and
  • demonstrates a “lead learner” stance as an educator.

The following will be considered an asset:

  • Experience in both elementary and secondary panels

Selection Process 

Our selection team will review and assess all applications based on the identified success criteria. Candidates invited to take part in an online interview via Zoom meeting will need to be available in the afternoon on April 2, 2020. This process also includes contacting references and ensuring balanced regional representation.

The successful independent contractor will need to be available as early as late spring 2020.
