OPC Lead Learn Call for Proposals

The OPCLeadLearn Annual Conference on October 22 - 23, 2026 is designed to empower and inspire school leaders within a supportive and inclusive learning community. Spanning 1.5 days, this event will feature impactful keynotes and a wide selection of engaging workshops to support professional growth and meaningful collaboration. With its theme of Building Connections, the conference provides an excellent opportunity to network and share ideas with colleagues from across the province. 

Shaped by Member feedback, OPCLeadLearn is tailored to meet the needs and interests of diverse education leaders. The OPCLeadLearn Committee has established clear goals to plan a meaningful opportunity for connection in alignment with these key objectives.

The 2026 OPCLeadLearn Conference Committee invites proposals to deliver parallel workshops on a variety of topics.

This is an opportunity to shape the conversation, share innovative strategies and inspire principals and vice-principals across Ontario. Your insights and leadership expertise are what make this event exceptional! We are looking for dynamic sessions that

  • address key questions and issues in educational leadership
  • provide actionable strategies for school leaders and
  • showcase diverse perspectives and innovative approaches.

Workshop Topics and Format

Connecting to the theme of Building Connections, we welcome proposals on a variety of topics including those related to community, culture, well-being and leading learning. We hope to provide spaces for meaningful discussion and exploration of a diverse range of  topics, practices, perspectives and ideas related to school leadership. 

Workshops offer a forum for discussion and collective learning on a current and relevant topic/issue/approach/strategy that supports the development of educational leadership in Ontario. They may involve group-based activities such as discussion, brainstorming, sharing and mini-tutorials around key ideas. Interaction with and among delegates can be facilitated in the room using traditional or digital methods.

Duration: 75 minutes

Delivery Format: Onsite (Toronto) 

Audience/ Participation

The program is designed to support principals and vice-principals in their roles within the Ontario context. Conference participation will be determined by enrolment, with a goal of reaching or exceeding participation of 200 OPC Members.

Microphone icon and speech bubblesOur conference is designed for school leaders by school leaders and we value Member expertise, perspectives and sharing, with a mix of meaningful programming for both elementary and secondary leaders. Proposals submissions from those with a vested interest in education outside of the OPC Membership will be considered, however the reviewers will aim to ensure balanced Member representation.

Proposal Assessment

All submissions will go through an anonymous assessment. The evaluators will review all submissions without individual names, which will be submitted separately. The names of the organizers and presenters should not appear in the text of the proposals. The OPC is committed to ensuring that a diverse range of perspectives are represented at the conference. This will be taken into consideration when determining the workshop list.  

Selection Criteria

All proposals will be evaluated on a variety of factors, including

  • alignment with the theme of Building Connections
  • relevance  for educational leadership and learning in Ontario
  • clear session objectives
  • perspectives to be included 
  • practical application and impact and
  • engagement and interactive design.

Proposals should be submitted through the form linked below by March 13, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. EDT

Please be prepared to provide the following information for a complete submission -

  • Facilitator information (maximum 2)
  • Workshop title
  • Three key words to describe your session
  • Learning goals (maximum 2)
  • Workshop description (maximum 150 words)
  • Description of how session will be designed to engage participants and ensure relevant learning for school leaders (maximum 150 words)

How do I submit a proposal?

Your proposal will be submitted through an online form. In addition to providing an abstract of your session, be prepared to answer the following questions as part of the submission. 

  • What type of session are you presenting? 

  • Information on yourself and other facilitators (if applicable).

Is there a fee to submit?
No, there is no fee to submit.
Do I have to register and pay for the conference registration if my proposal is accepted?
Yes, you and anyone who will be presenting with you are required to register and pay the registration fee if your proposal is accepted. 
Can I submit more than one proposal?
Yes, you can submit a maximum of two proposals. 
When do I need to complete my submission?
The deadline for submission is March 132026 at 12:00 p.m. EDT. 
When will I find out if my proposal is accepted?
You will be notified by email by May 13, 2026.
How will my proposal be evaluated?

What is the likelihood my proposal will be accepted?
This depends on the number of applications we receive. We are looking to provide opportunities to as many presenters as possible. There will be up to 15 workshops selected.
Do I need to include all facilitators at the time of the proposal submission?
Yes, one/both facilitators must be named at the time of the submission.
How many presenters can I include?
Up to a maximum of two.
Will I have to pay for travel and accommodations costs if my proposal is accepted? 
Yes, along with the full registration fee, you would be responsible to pay for travel and accommodations if your proposal is accepted. There is a group rate arranged through the Hilton Toronto Airport for conference participants.
