Ontario’s three principal associations are raising concerns about growing system pressures affecting publicly funded schools, informed by data from principals and vice-principals across the province.

This campaign highlights the impact of these challenges on learning conditions, student well-being and school communities. It informs parents, guardians or caregivers and the broader public about the realities facing Ontario’s schools and the need for meaningful investment in education.

Through this advocacy, the associations are raising awareness and calling for action to support safe, supportive and inclusive learning environments for all students.

 2025–26
Did you know the number of students with complex needs in Ontario schools has been steadily climbing since 2019. Ontario administrators continue to advocate for greater funding for Special Education to support our classrooms. Currently, school administrators indicate that they are unable to perform their regular duties, reporting that they spend over 30% of their time fulfilling the roles of other staff. More specialized supports are needed. Ask your school board how they intend to increase staff supports for your child and balance leadership responsibilities.
 2024–25

Did You Know? The Directors of Education from school boards across Ontario have released a report calling the teacher shortage in Ontario a “crisis.” We agree. Principals and vice-principals have been advocating for immediate action to address staff shortages in schools for several years. Ask your MPP to advocate for all students in Ontario, to ensure their schools are appropriately staffed in support of safety and student achievement.

83% of principals and vice-principals have personally witnessed violence or threats of violence toward a staff person in their school? Principals and vice-principals find this unacceptable. Ask the Minister of Education to hire more trained adults and professionals to keep our schools safe.
